Willamette Valley Law Project

The Willamette Valley Law Project is dedicated to conducting research and education on issues and conditions affecting low-income individuals working in agriculture and related sectors. Their mission is to provide insights and knowledge on these pressing matters, focusing on federal and state statutory rights and guarantees that agricultural workers may or may not be entitled to in areas such as wages, working conditions, employment relations, organization and free assembly, and expression.

The organization undertakes various activities in pursuit of this mission. They conduct research, drafting alternative legislative language, and raise awareness and interest in labor rights. They also present information and analysis on farm labor rights, survey farmworkers to document conditions, and assemble documentation and data on chemicals used in Oregon, documenting instances of chemical exposure. Furthermore, they survey awareness of and interest in pesticide issues, presenting information and analysis on pesticide issues, and identify and enlist the participation of medical professionals in addressing pesticide exposure.

In addition to farm labor rights and pesticide issues, the Willamette Valley Law Project also engages in education and research on immigrants' rights, community-based mass communication strategies, and immigrant rights and service projects. Their goal is to reach a wider audience and provide effective strategies for addressing the rights and needs of immigrant communities. By undertaking these various activities, the Willamette Valley Law Project aims to limit or eliminate damage to humans or the environment caused by agricultural chemicals and advocate for the rights of low-income individuals in the agriculture sector.
