Fundacion Alma De Bahia

Fundacion Alma de Bahia, an environmental, educational, community, and charity association, is dedicated to the protection of natural resources and wildlife, as well as contributing to community and local sustainability through conservation initiatives, environmental education, and social responsibility. The mission of this organization is threefold: first, to rescue and care for abandoned and stray cats and dogs, providing them with a safe haven and ultimately finding them forever homes; second, to engage in community work and educational initiatives aimed at raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting sustainable practices; and third, to ensure the well-being of local ecosystems by rescuing and rehabilitating animals and releasing them back into their natural habitats when possible.

Through its animal rescue program, Fundacion Alma de Bahia saves the lives of sick and abandoned cats and dogs in the Rio Grande area of Puerto Rico. The foundation's staff and volunteers work tirelessly to provide these animals with the necessary veterinary care, shelter, and food before finding them loving adoptive or foster homes. By taking in and caring for these pets, Fundacion Alma de Bahia not only ensures their safety and well-being, but also helps to protect local ecosystems and promote sustainability by reducing the number of stray animals roaming the streets and potentially damaging habitats.

Moreover, the organization's volunteers support various initiatives aimed at cleaning up cat and dog areas, walking and feeding the animals, and even leading educational programs in local high schools. During the year 2022, Fundacion Alma de Bahia made 305 shelter visits to rescue and care for animals in need. These efforts demonstrate the organization's commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement, as well as its dedication to the welfare of animals and the people who care for them.
