Military Aviation Preservation Society

The Military Aviation Preservation Society, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to maintaining a military aviation museum with the primary objectives of actively preserving historic aircraft and raising community awareness about the history of military aviation. This institution serves as a platform for educating the public, providing them with an insight into the significant milestones and artifacts in military aviation history.

The society's mission is realized through various restoration and preservation projects. Volunteers, numbering approximately 197, contribute their time and effort, totalling 42,668 service hours in 2021, ensuring the upkeep of the museum and its aircraft displays. The society's dedication to preservation is evident in its renovation projects, which include kitchen and banquet hall renovations, restroom renovations with HVAC and observation windows, and a 2nd floor renovation completed in 2021. These renovations have transformed the space, creating a more inviting and engaging environment for visitors.

Financial support comes from various sources, including designated funds from various foundations such as the Lindh, Gessner, Timken, Miller, and Corbin Foundations, as well as funding from Stark & Akron Community Foundations and individual and corporate sponsors. The Curator Fund and Library Fund have also contributed to the upgrade of display cases, graphics displays, and the purchase of a computer. Most recently, Korean/Vietnam display cases have been created, further enriching the museum's offerings.
