United Way of Venango County Inc's mission is centered around improving the quality of life for the community's residents. They achieve this by coordinating a community-wide voluntary fundraising campaign. This campaign involves gathering resources from various health, welfare, and recreational agencies, and distributing these resources to meet both current and emerging human service needs. The organization's primary goal is to bring together a united appeal, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and impactfully.

Each year, United Way of Venango County convenes a panel of community volunteers to discuss and understand the local issues. They aim to make a significant impact where it's needed most, funding the most effective programs at well-run agencies. The panel continuously monitors these programs to ensure they stay on track and achieve their intended results. This year, the panel and the board of directors allocated a total of $197,106 to community programs in Venango County. In addition to this, funds were also allocated to United Way's operational programs.

United Way of Venango County also operates several other initiatives. For instance, PA211: 2-1-1 is a comprehensive information/referral service available to everyone in the county. It serves as the social services equivalent of 9-1-1, providing easy access to a database of agencies, programs, and resources. The service is available via phone, text, and an online site. Another initiative is the Imagination Library, a program that provides high-quality, age-appropriate books to children from birth to age five. Each enrolled child receives one free book each month, delivered to their home in their name, at no cost to the family.

Lastly, United Way of Venango County runs the Success by Six summer program for pre-kindergarten children who are identified as "at-risk" for learning or behavioral problems. The purpose of this program is to provide a quality pre-kindergarten education to children before they begin formal schooling. The Success by Six program ensures that classrooms meet the guidelines outlined by the Pennsylvania Learning Standards for early childhood under the Office of Child Development and Early Learning.
